Vacancy Junior Project Manager

Pack4Food wants to strengthen its team and is looking for an enthusiastic Junior Project Manager to help build the packaging solutions of the future. You will contribute to innovation projects with companies and research institutions across the entire food packaging value chain (from raw material to recycling), thereby helping the transition to sustainable, circular, and smart packaging.

Since 2005, as a UGent spin-off and innovation cluster, Pack4Food has been a central and leading player within the network of companies from the food and packaging industry and research institutions. We stimulate innovation throughout the entire packaging chain through (i) the design and execution of research and innovation projects both nationally and internationally, (ii) tailored training, workshops, and advice, and (iii) a strong and growing international network that supports companies with their technological and strategic challenges. These international ambitions are further strengthened by our coordinating role in the European Food Packaging Partnership. All these activities are realized by a dynamic team in an ever-changing and stimulating environment!

Job Description

  • You support the execution and follow-up of national and European projects with a strong focus on recyclable, reusable, and bio-based packaging systems.
  • You maintain smooth contact with companies, research institutions, federations, and international stakeholders through workshops, events, and networking activities, among others.
  • You act as a point of contact for project partners, support project management, and manage project reporting and communication.
  • You are willing to learn independently to stay up-to-date with innovations in the food packaging industry.
  • You are energized by working with international partners and are willing to travel occasionally.
  • You contribute to a collegial and enthusiastic team atmosphere.

Profile

  • Master's degree with a broad interest in food and packaging technology (bio-engineer, civil engineer, commercial or industrial engineer, Master of Science) or equivalent through experience.
  • Initial relevant work experience is an asset, but not a requirement.
  • Strong organizational skills and fluent communication.
  • Hands-on, team-oriented, with a ‘can do’ mentality.
  • Fluent Dutch and English, both spoken and written. Knowledge of other languages is a plus, given the international nature of Pack4Food.
  • Interest in technological innovation, sustainability, and circular packaging strategies.

Offer

  • A challenging and versatile full-time position within a small, dynamic, and internationally oriented organization.
  • The opportunity to grow in project management and actively contribute to the food packaging of the future.
  • An attractive salary package with fringe benefits commensurate with your experience.
  • Position based in Ghent, with the possibility of flexible remote working.
  • Start date to be determined by mutual agreement, preferably early September 2026.
