Would you like to discover how cleaning technology plays a key role in the circular reuse of plastic food packaging?

Within the framework of the HERPAK project, Pack4Food is organizing an exclusive demo event at Christeyns, where knowledge sharing, hands-on experience, and networking take center stage. This event brings together professionals from the food, packaging, and cleaning technology sectors to focus on the reuse of plastic food packaging.

♻️ About HERPAK

HERPAK focuses on the high-quality reuse of plastic food packaging such as PP, PET, and Tritan®. An essential—but often underestimated—aspect of this process is efficient and food-safe cleaning. That is why this event specifically highlights the importance of specialized detergents for professional dishwashers in cleaning reusable plastic containers.

1:00 PM: Doors open
1:30 PM: Welcome & introduction to the HERPAK project by Pack4Food (objectives, partners and benefits of participation)
1:50 PM: Key considerations on food safety and hygiene in reusable packaging & the relevance of HERPAK – UGent

2:30 PM: Presentation by Christeyns:

  • The role of detergents in professional dishwashing systems
  • Specific challenges in cleaning plastic food packaging

3:30 PM: Q&A – Christeyns, UGent, Pack4Food
4:00 PM: Networking moment with refreshments + optional guided tour of the Christeyns laboratory

🎯 Target audience

This demo event is aimed at:

  • Companies active in food processing and packaging
  • Producers and users of reusable plastic packaging
  • Developers and suppliers of cleaning and dishwashing technologies
  • Researchers, policymakers, and other stakeholders interested in circular packaging solutions

Participation is free, but registration is required (50 participants maximum).

HERPAK is co-funded by VLAIO (COOCK project), leading partner: Pack4Food, in cooperation with University Ghent (nutriFOODchem  and FMFP) and Flanders’ FOOD.

How

The venue is easily accessible by car and public transport.

By car, Christeyns can be reached via the R40 (Ghent ring road). The barrier opens automatically during office hours; please follow the signs to the parking area.

By public transport, the nearest train station is Ghent-Dampoort, located about 20 minutes on foot or 5 minutes by taxi.
Several bus lines stop nearby, with Scandinaviëstraat (3-minute walk) and P+R Lübeck (5-minute walk) as the closest stops.
