In this engaging presentation, Pieter Vervinckt will provide a clear and concise overview of the new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). Spanning 70 articles and over 300 pages, this regulation will shape the European framework for packaging policy. Pieter will highlight the key elements of the PPWR and explain how the regulation will evolve in the coming years through secondary legislation, with a significant role for the business sector. Who?

Pieter Vervinckt is part of the International Policy team at OVAM (Public Waste Agency of Flanders). With a Master’s degree in EU Studies and Public Management, Pieter has extensive experience in international environmental policymaking. He played a key role in the negotiations of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) during Belgium’s EU presidency and is currently part of the Belgian delegation negotiating an international treaty to combat plastic pollution. Additionally, Pieter represents Belgium in the EU's Single-Use Plastics (SUP) Committee.
